01. INTRODUCTION
What is a design idea? How can graphic design be used to create systems —material forms and visual hierarchies? How do those systems serve to manage content? And finally, how does this process constitute a public or audience for content by determining its routes of production, distribution, and circulation?
As a graphic designer, my task was to research and analyze the exhibition, and create marketing materials in various mediums that effectively communicates the exhibition's themes and showcases the artworks in a visually compelling manner.
02. RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS
To begin my research, I visited the exhibition website, read reviews and essays about the exhibition, and studied the artist biographies and artworks. Through my research, I gained a thorough understanding of the exhibition's themes, the artists' creative processes, and the impact of the exhibition on the art world.
Based on my analysis of the exhibition's content, I identified four key themes that would guide my design approach: 1) the connection between humans and animals, 2) the impact of technology on the natural world, 3) the role of art in promoting social and environmental awareness, and 4) the intersection between science and art.
Through a series of posters, motion piece, book mockups, and publication, I showcase my take on the 2020 Taiwan Biennial.
