01. INTRODUCTION

This project involved the analysis of an audio or field recording, with a focus on capturing the essence of the sounds in a visual form.

My audio: Market Street in Philadelphia from the ninth floor

02. DESIGN PROCESS

Audio Analysis:

The first step was to analyze the audio recording, taking note of the various sounds and their characteristics. This included the sound of traffic, people talking, birds chirping, and other ambient noises. The aim was to identify the key sounds and their unique properties.

Sketching:

Then I created sketches of potential compositions. The focus here was on exploring abstraction and basic non-objective shapes in a fixed space. The sketches helped to visualize different ways of representing the sounds in a visual form.

Composition Creation and Iteration:

Using the sketches as a guide, I used Illustrator to map out the compositions. They were refined through an iterative process, which involved making minor adjustments to the composition and experimenting with different shapes and negative spaces.
